Processing The Way We Think

Community members and students are struggling to advocate for themselves in public and academic forums as a result of their inability to convert the information they receive into a format that is compatible with their learning styles. The inability to process the information received limits their ability to effectively participate in identifying sustainable learning strategies for students and identifying sustainable engagement strategies and solutions for community members.

The metacognition classes will focus on providing tools and techniques to community members and students to aid them in assessing their learning styles. The classes will be targeted at various levels of stakeholders to ensure we accommodate various learning styles. After we complete an initial learning style assessment, we will identify strategies, tools and techniques to aid you in navigating how to convert external information into a usable format to promote self-efficacy and advocacy.

Target Populations

Population#1:

Community members who are involved in community activism efforts that need to provide a voice, on behalf of their community stakeholders, to community partners interested in supporting, fostering, funding and promoting change.

Population #2:

Students who require assistance in understanding their learning styles to ascertain how they best learn to begin to identify what tools will assist them in processing classroom information. Tha goal is to position them to self-advocate for lessons/curriculum to be taught with certain accommodations to ensure their learning success.
